White + Rose

I've never mentioned once in my blog thus far that I'm a stress shopper, and I can be a little disinhibited at times. I never thought I'd buy a gold ring on impulse. The Mejuri Evil Eye ring wasn't something that appealed to me upon first glance. I've seen it on the likes of Amelia Liana and Estee Lalonde on YouTube but it was never a "must have" item. I've always preferred one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Yet, during these crazy few months, I saw the appeal. It was chic and the design is simplistic enough to go with many outfits. I justified it as an early birthday gift to myself and a reward for completing the academic year. It was still a lot of money to spend on myself -- for just a ring. I guess it's mostly because I don't believe I deserve it. However, I chose to keep it because I don't like backing out of my decisions. Ever since the  Mise en Dior earrings were a hit, ear jackets and double-sided earrings have been on trend. The ones I find are right up my alley now are the ear jackets -- peekaboo earrings, under-ear earrings, front-and-back earrings are the other names I've found. Another variety of earrings I've been admiring are the ear climbers or ear crawlers -- designed to follow the curvature of the ear but only part of the curve, unlike an ear cuff that encapsulates the entire ear. It's not a new concept to have an ear jacket to adorn an earring but it has been new to wear the jacket behind the earlobe. At first, I wasn't keen on these trends and thought it was tacky but I changed my mind. With the right pair, it could be sophisticated yet millennial -trendy. Statement necklaces were never really my thing but with an intent to change up my style, I thought I'd get one. I took advantage of the sales and bought mine from ASOS. I used a coupon code to obtain a further discount and paid about AUD$23 for this necklace. It's not cheap but I think it's moderately priced for a sale item. You can find the necklace  here . Materials - no plastic. I wanted sturdier materials. Price - nothing more than AUD$30. It is very dressy and I plan to use this whenever I want to glam up an outfit.

I have always been drawn to butterflies: the colours, the patterns and the shape of their wings. When I had spotted these wooden laser-cut butterfly brooches, I knew I had to get them somehow. I simply purchase some laser-cut wooden butterflies and brooch bar pins and glue them together. I also chose to paint the wooden butterflies with a matte sealer just in case. These were mines: They make beautiful gifts for those who adore butterflies, or anyone who's girly and loves shabby chic. 

These days, I think it's pretty obvious that rose gold has become trendy from jewellery to watches, even to metallic shoes. In my eyes, yellow gold will always be classic and traditional and white gold is more modern and edgy, rose gold would something more romantic, reserved for engagement jewellery. Well, now everyone wants that Michael Kors Rose Gold watch... They say that it flatters all skin tones but I beg to differ. I can see that rose gold would be situated between yellow and white, if there was a scale between which skin tones it flatters most (yellow suits warm and white suits cool). However, I cannot see it working out for me. Rose gold works well with fair-skinned people but I'm not exactly pale. It's not to say that you can't wear it if you're not pale. You could definitely mix rose gold with different tints of gold.  I believe trends on jewellery tend to last longer than most fashion clothing trends so this will most likely stay for a while...

Brrr... Sydney's gotten colder since May has finally kicked in but I don't recall having autumn nights dropping down to 8ºC since the last two years. We (my family) never crank up the heater whenever it is cold because we just don't have the need to. Australian winters aren't too cold but it sure has fierce winds. Instead, we just layer up on clothes and bring out our warmest doonas (if you're not Australian, then it's a duvet). So since the weather's getting colder, I thought I'd do a post on scarves. Well, I purchased one from Vintage Hollywood, a brand that a lot of Korean celebrities are spotted wearing. In Australia, spring has already crept in and it's nearing summer. There is a reason why I love looking at accessory trends: they don't change as regularly as clothing. Headbands are still in. Feathers are are still there (with Melbourne Cup drifting in, there's no reason why you wouldn't see them) And now, there's flowers. I don't mean floral patterns on headbands or gold earrings in the shape of a flower but rather fake flowers chained up into one: the realistic look. Floral garlands have popped up in Sportsgirl, from simple designs to more elaborate ones. More hair accessories from Diva. I can imagine those garlands being worn at a concert or a nice casual day out but even I hesitate to try this trend.
