We're almost two weeks into this new year so I thought I'd do a quick post on my resolutions. First of all, I'm not dead. 2015 was a haze for me and my passion for style took a backseat. I feel incredibly shallow making weekly posts about material things and I burned out. This blog is supposed to be fun for me and to allow me to develop my 'voice' in writing. I do not derive any income from keeping this blog up, so nothing but my passion for writing about style kept me moving.  In any case, my 2016 resolutions all surround one theme: Balance . In terms of my blog, I hope to find a balance in my posts and try to strive for consistent quality, as opposed to frequent posts. I am aware that frequent posts are necessary for a successful blog but I am also aware that there's a limit to what I can say before it sounds like I'm repeating myself, or repeating what others have to say.  As for the other aspects of my life, I'll be starting postgradua...

Sometimes, you just need a break from things. I'm back for the second semester now but this was how I spent my break: I visited a friend at her place and she curled my hair. I also got to try one of her corsets. It was quite flattering but I don't have a picture because it was ridiculous to wear a corset over a jumper/sweater. She introduced me to the Lego Movie (we never finished it). The curls have loosened up by that time. I happened to pick up a Maybelline BB cream... and that was my half-finished painting behind it. It's finished now. I haven't painted in a while and wanted to get in touch with my artistic side (sarcasm)... I just felt like painting. This is not an original work. I was never good at painting so I followed a tutorial  here.  Nevermind that, I never honed my skills so my artistic skill is the same as my 12-year-old self. It's time to revive this blog (a.k.a my baby). To mark this revival, I decided to change my layout. I've made this layout way back but I had second thoughts about using it. Nevertheless, I spent hours making it and with fresh eyes, it looks pretty good. Welcome to the new era of White + Rose... and no, not much is going to change. 

If you've actually been reading my blog more than once, you'd realise that I'd finally changed my layout. I thought the white background and minimalist header was getting boring so I made my new layout with the little spare time I had. It didn't quite worked out as planned but I think this will do. There's only so much you can do, sticking with the Blogger templates. This layout reminds me of the girly website I used to keep up in 5 and 6th grade (yes, I made a website with the basic knowledge I had of photoshop and html) At the moment, I don't have much spare time. I've recently finished my assignments for the mid-semester but the examinations are coming up and I need to prepare for them. I would fix up this layout if I had the time to. Unfortunately, I may not be able to post for a while and I'm running out of inspiration too. Hopefully after this exam period, I'll be fresh again and start writing again.

New York's got Fifth Avenue , Paris has the  Champs Élysées , Sydney's probably the Pitt St Mall and San Francisco's would be Union Square . Yes, I've been shopping. However, while I was shopping in San Francisco, I was off tourist mode so I don't have any pictures I have personally taken out on the streets. You should know that I have a fascination with Lolita fashion or Japanese street fashion in general. While I was heading to Union Square, I wandered into Angelic Pretty (I really didn't know where I was going until I walked up to it). It's a small boutique, split in half with Harajuku Hearts, so one half is mainly black and the other half is pink! Anyway, I actually took a look and walked around the block, only to come back to purchase a jumperskirt from them. Ok, so I've been MIA for a while since I've been travelling. I'm still not back in Australia yet and I'm just writing a small post to welcome the new year. I'm not one to keep my New Year's resolutions. I think most of the population do not keep them either, which is why I'm not going to be setting one this time. A lot of things would be different this year as I'm not longer in high school.  Anyways, I wish you all a Happy New Year! I spent my New Year's Eve in New York. The next time I'll probably post will most likely be when I get back to Australia.

When I first read about this, I admit I was a little curious, then excited, then started questioning about it: "Why make a line based on Lisbeth Salander when most people wouldn't be wearing grunge/goth?" I'm among those millions of people who have bought a copy of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and read it. (I have the trilogy sitting on my bookshelf now... sitting in front of the Twilight books I haven't touched for years and probably won't touch again.) She's my favourite character and probably everyone who has read the book would at least feel sympathy for her, if not admire her strength despite all those unfortunate events that happened to her. Now you can actually dress like her with H&M's collection based on her style. I wouldn't go all out with it but I do have my eye on their leather jackets. I've always wanted to get a leather jacket but I feared that it wouldn't suit me at all. I wouldn't dare go near the leather pan...

Hello there! I haven't been updating this blog lately as I've been quite busy with reality.  My personal situation (if you're not interest, please ignore): My final examinations are drawing near, I'm in my assessment period before the finals. I also plan to take the UMAT (which would be an external examination) and not to mention that I thought it would be fun to add a chemistry competition into this mix. School is practically dominating every minute of my life at the moment.  Back to what I plan to talk about: my formal dress. I've decided to be lazy and instead of sewing the dress myself, I'll just decorate a pre-made dress. I've got most of my materials to make the dress except the dress itself. It will probably be difficult to stick to the design I had originally wanted.  However, I still have that Gibbous Fashions inspiration in mind. I can just imagine how fun it would be to rip those strips of cloth and the hours it would take to sew the st...
