Style: Wardrobe Update - Winter 2020

As the weather's cooling down, I wanted to get winter-ready for my wardrobe. Most items were things I had on my eye on but I was waiting for a better time to purchase, whether I was waiting out for a promotion to actually having the money to purchase new clothes.

1. Black work pants

I got rid of my only pair of black work pants in January with a wardrobe clear out. They were half-elasticised and didn't fit properly. I found this pair of Glassons to replace. It's the cropped capri pant. Reasonable price, and 20% off with the introductory promotion when you sign up for their newsletter. Recommended to size down as the fabric contains elastane and will stretch. I've had to go in-store to exchange.

2. Black skinny jeans

Flare is back, but black skinnies are still a wardrobe staple in my eyes. I held off purchasing them up until now because I didn't foresee any use during the summer. General Pants came back with their 30% promotion (they have one at least twice a year), and I had my eye on these Rollas for a while. I chose the Westcoast as I find mid-rise more flattering on my body for tucking shirts in. They've got good stretch and the shape accommodates for a curvier body.

3. Black sunglasses

Jennie from Blackpink had a collection released with Gentle Monster late April called Jentle Home. My friend had purchased his 1996 sunglasses, but wasn't sure if it suited him. However, I liked them but I wasn't able to buy since they were sold out. He offered to sell his pair to me because he didn't like them enough.

4. Blouse with Tie

When I saw this from Dangerfield (Princess Highway brand), it was perfect. That iconic gamine look that reminds me of classic YSL and Chanel. It was at 20% off. It's now out of stock online.

Model: Ming Xi

Hello there! I thought I would make a post, seeing as it's a long weekend here in Australia and I probably won't be blogging for a while as things are going to get busier for me. Oh, and I've also started a beauty blog at: http://maquillagebythesea.blogspot.com/  Whether you want to read the beauty blog, it's really up to you. I thought it would be fun to write one, even though I'm still struggling to keep up with a fashion blog.  I've been focusing on street fashion and alternative fashions so far, as well as mainstream trends, so I'll be writing about something different. I've been hiding under a rock and finally realised that there's a lot more Asian models now. I still think it consists predominantly of white females though. I was just searching on the net and I came across a model called Ming (Mengyao) Xi (also was known as Barbie Xi for a period of time) and I was stunned by her work.  Givenchy Couture - Paris - S/S 10 Emilio...

Inspiration: Catherine Deneuve - The Hunger

The Hunger (1983) is the last film collaboration Catherine Deneuve had with Yves Saint Laurent. 80s fashion suited the thousand-year-old Egyptian vampire, Miriam -- accessories were bold and flashy, the shoulder pads making one seem more confident and powerful. In fact, every time I use my YSL lipstick, I'm reminded of this movie -- something about YSL and the flashy gold packaging makes me recall this film. This vampire movie had its flaws but I will acknowledge that it was beautiful, aesthetically speaking. My favourite shots Here are the highlights of the outfits: First outfit: Possibly jumpsuit with belt, 80s Cat Eye glasses, drop earrings, leather gloves with eyelets Very minimalist here with a navy blazer and white shirt. Love the raspberry lip. Flashy gold earrings here.  Veiled hat, large stud earrings, white coat and a lizard brooch (love that detail; I believe in Ancient Egypt, lizards symbolise divine wisdom)  Perhaps my favourite dress. A dro...

Inspiration: Alice Cullen

Hi there. So I thought it has been a while since I've done a post like this so I might as well. It seems like most of the world hates Twilight but the fad has toned down a little, hence why I'm doing this. My friends know that I've read Twilight before there was this explosion of popularity in Australia. I believe Twilight was gaining popularity in the States as well. What they didn't know was that I had to look in 5 different bookstores to find the book... and it was the only copy they had (that was how unknown this series was in Australia until they planned to make a movie). Once it became popular, I saw Twilight everywhere from supermarkets to department stores and it makes me think about how stupid I was for spending all that time looking for it. Keep in mind, I was around 14 when I picked it up. I only read it because this book was recommended to me (and I was in that phase where I wanted to read about vampires). Normally it takes me 1 week to read a book leisure...
