Trend: Double Earrings, Ear Jackets and Ear Climbers

Ever since the  Mise en Dior earrings were a hit, ear jackets and double-sided earrings have been on trend. The ones I find are right up my alley now are the ear jackets -- peekaboo earrings, under-ear earrings, front-and-back earrings are the other names I've found. Another variety of earrings I've been admiring are the ear climbers or ear crawlers -- designed to follow the curvature of the ear but only part of the curve, unlike an ear cuff that encapsulates the entire ear. It's not a new concept to have an ear jacket to adorn an earring but it has been new to wear the jacket behind the earlobe. At first, I wasn't keen on these trends and thought it was tacky but I changed my mind. With the right pair, it could be sophisticated yet millennial -trendy. Mise en Dior/ Dior Tribal Double Pearl Earrings These were the earrings that changed my mind while I was browsing through trendy jewellery. I thought the marquise cut stones (acrylic of course) were very classy a...

What I Bought: Statement Necklace

Statement necklaces were never really my thing but with an intent to change up my style, I thought I'd get one. I took advantage of the sales and bought mine from ASOS. I used a coupon code to obtain a further discount and paid about AUD$23 for this necklace. It's not cheap but I think it's moderately priced for a sale item. You can find the necklace  here . Picture from ASOS Photo from ASOS My necklace I chose the necklace because it fit most of the criteria for my first statement necklace: Design - not too big, chain not too long. Materials - no plastic. I wanted sturdier materials. Price - nothing more than AUD$30. It is very dressy and I plan to use this whenever I want to glam up an outfit.

DIY: Butterfly Brooches

I have always been drawn to butterflies: the colours, the patterns and the shape of their wings. When I had spotted these wooden laser-cut butterfly brooches, I knew I had to get them somehow. From:  http://www.etsy.com/listing/120900444/wooden-butterfly-brooch-butterfly-brooch?ref=market Instead of purchasing one already made, I opted to make them myself. To make them, it's pretty easy. I simply purchase some laser-cut wooden butterflies and brooch bar pins and glue them together. I also chose to paint the wooden butterflies with a matte sealer just in case. These were mines: They make beautiful gifts for those who adore butterflies, or anyone who's girly and loves shabby chic.

Accessory: Hats

Hats: they're one accessory I can't really get into. I never enjoyed having "hat-hair". There are so many different hats on the market these days. Back in the mid-2000s, all I could remember were those Von Dutch trucker caps. In retrospect, they were hideous. I'll be forever thankful that my mother didn't let me get one of those. One of the best hats for protecting your face from the sun are those gigantic floppy hats . Unfortunately, they end up looking like monstrosities eating my head. These hats are quite feminine and great for the beach. They're just one of the many hats I cannot pull off but I love them on people who can. Marilyn Monroe looking very elegant. A Woodstock Hippie here... most likely. Aria Montgomery (Pretty Little Liars) in a cute floppy hat that is perfect for the beach. The fedora is one of those hats I adore on men. They're classy and masculine... or at least they were. I'm not sure why there...
