Trends: Faux Fur Fawn Collars

So what's in trend at the moment is fur . As I've said before in a previous post, I'm not into fur and animal prints (That was when the leopard print trend emerged again in Australian fashion) It's not that I am an animal rights activist and I'm totally against fur. It's just that I've never taken a liking towards it. Of course, it's different when you're talking about leather (because I do like leather shoes and wouldn't mind a leather jacket). However, I believe I've found an exception to this and it's the fawn print on faux fur. This trend was in the Lolita community. Innocent World had released a fawn collar a while ago but I believe it is popping up again with seamstresses in the Lolita community selling them and in Mori Girl too. But even mainstream fashion has caught onto this with H&M having released one for their kids range. Of course, it maybe a one off thing for mainstream fashion. Perhaps why I like this is because I...

Trend: Flower Accessories

In Australia, spring has already crept in and it's nearing summer. There is a reason why I love looking at accessory trends: they don't change as regularly as clothing. Headbands are still in. Feathers are are still there (with Melbourne Cup drifting in, there's no reason why you wouldn't see them) And now, there's flowers. I don't mean floral patterns on headbands or gold earrings in the shape of a flower but rather fake flowers chained up into one: the realistic look. Floral garlands have popped up in Sportsgirl, from simple designs to more elaborate ones. More hair accessories from Diva. I can imagine those garlands being worn at a concert or a nice casual day out but even I hesitate to try this trend. Those garlands could even be used for a wedding, if the flowers were white.  The two accessories on the far right from Diva. The rest are from Sportsgirl. Although it hasn't hit stores, it can also be in the form of jewellery. In etsy, there are h...

'Round the World #1: Mori Girl

I've been meaning to do a series of posts which focus on alternative fashion and so this will be the first post. I'm also aware that most alternative fashion are also lifestyles but I won't be going into that. This is my interpretation of the styles, so I'm deeply sorry if I get something wrong (some of them have strict rules). Partly why alternative fashion interests me is because fashion is used for making a statement. Just like mainstream fashion, they also have trends too but mainstream fashion relies on the runways to create trends. Mori girl, 森ガール, (lit. forest girl) is a Japanese subculture (so it's more like a lifestyle). It focuses on being "natural" and I'd describe it as whimsical, woodland fairy-like and perhaps grandma-chic. It's basically  vintage clothing, knits and crocheted lace, loose-fitting dresses that reach below the knee (at least nothing way above the knee). Mori girl tends to be quite neutral in colour, so earthen to...
