Sorry for a very delayed post. Things didn't go according to plan. Now that I've completed my exams (really didn't go that well...) and I'm feeling a bit down, I thought I'd take my time to type up a post. I wasn't planning to write up a tutorial for this so I don't a picture for every step and had to go back and make another scoop to depict a few steps. So I made my first purchase from One Day in Paradise , which is an Australian Lolita supplier. I purchased a Classical Puppets petticoat from them because I needed one fast. I couldn't wait for the manufacturer to make me a petticoat and wait two months or more for it to arrive. The packaging that it arrived it was nothing special. The petticoat was folded into a plastic sleeve. It came along with their business card. So overall, the shipping was 5/5. I received it on time when they shipped it on the 3rd and I received it on the 5th (of the same month), which was when they expected the package to arrive at my front door. The actual service, I'll give it a 4.5/5. I did feel like there was a lack of communication during my wait for the package to be shipped. As for the petticoat itself, it's definitely poofy. If someone were to ask me what I've been doing during my winter break, I'd say that I didn't do much. I've been lounging around, being as lazy as I possibly could before I return back to school. I had dinner with some friends... and bought tickets to an anime convention. SMASH! is the Sydney Manga and Anime Show for short and I've been wanting to go for years but I kept putting it off (I've had excuses from family events to school work). I rarely haul things or go on a shopping spree but I'd thought I'd share these two purchases in a quick post. Firstly, I received a package containing my purchase from  Clobbaonline . I bought a pair of Secret Shop Tea Party shoes in white because white suits more sweeter styles of Lolita. I must say that the straps can get very annoying to put on but they're very cute. The cover of the shoe box. My package was wrapped in bubble wrap and a red polka-dot plastic wrapping with lots of sticky tape.  The heel was good height for me. I can't wear flats because it would strain the back of my calf, so it must have a short heel about 2 cm. The construction of the shoe was good but I'm a little paranoid that I'll snap the straps off. It wasn't the most comfortable pair of shoes but that was partly due to the fit. I purchased it in L which would be perfect for a 24.5 cm foot but my feet were 24cm. A few posts ago, I was going on about the fawn fur collar. I've got my hands on one now! This one was commissioned from Bathina who can also be found here if you wish to get one yourself. I ordered this while I was in the US and it took approximately two weeks to be made, then another two weeks to arrive at its destination (in my hands!). The envelope itself was nothing special. Looked just like any other package except with patterned tape: As soon as I opened it, I was happy. It was all wrapped in a clear plastic bag. The music sheet gave it a nice touch. The little tag had cleaning instructions on it and "Danke". Unfortunately, the bag itself was sealed with a LOAD of sticky tape and it was difficult to unwrap it neatly. I accidently ripped a bit of the music sheet when I was interrupted. It was still in that plastic bag... so the packing could've been a little more durable. New York's got Fifth Avenue , Paris has the  Champs Élysées , Sydney's probably the Pitt St Mall and San Francisco's would be Union Square . Yes, I've been shopping. However, while I was shopping in San Francisco, I was off tourist mode so I don't have any pictures I have personally taken out on the streets. You should know that I have a fascination with Lolita fashion or Japanese street fashion in general. While I was heading to Union Square, I wandered into Angelic Pretty (I really didn't know where I was going until I walked up to it). It's a small boutique, split in half with Harajuku Hearts, so one half is mainly black and the other half is pink! Anyway, I actually took a look and walked around the block, only to come back to purchase a jumperskirt from them. So what's in trend at the moment is fur . As I've said before in a previous post, I'm not into fur and animal prints (That was when the leopard print trend emerged again in Australian fashion) It's not that I am an animal rights activist and I'm totally against fur. It's just that I've never taken a liking towards it. Of course, it's different when you're talking about leather (because I do like leather shoes and wouldn't mind a leather jacket). However, I believe I've found an exception to this and it's the fawn print on faux fur. This trend was in the Lolita community. Innocent World had released a fawn collar a while ago but I believe it is popping up again with seamstresses in the Lolita community selling them and in Mori Girl too. But even mainstream fashion has caught onto this with H&M having released one for their kids range. Of course, it maybe a one off thing for mainstream fashion. My mid-year exams are finally over! I'm not sure what I feel about how I did but that's not what I'm here for. I originally planned to add another entry into formal dresses but that will have to wait as I'm still thinking about how I'm going to make my dress. Instead, I'll be adding another entry into alternate fashion. Lolita has to be one of the most well-known styles. When I say "Harajuku", this style will be one of many styles that pop into people's minds. It's probably one of the older styles too as it goes back to the 70s/80s. Of course, there are many different styles of Lolita - just like how there is in Goth.  If you are unfamiliar about Lolita, please don't relate it to the book by Vladimir Nabokov . It has nothing to do with it. Lolita fashion is about modesty (usually...) and not about dressing up like girls to attract pedophiles.
