Accessory: Mejuri Evil Eye Ring

I've never mentioned once in my blog thus far that I'm a stress shopper, and I can be a little disinhibited at times. I never thought I'd buy a gold ring on impulse. The Mejuri Evil Eye ring wasn't something that appealed to me upon first glance. I've seen it on the likes of Amelia Liana and Estee Lalonde on YouTube but it was never a "must have" item. I've always preferred one-of-a-kind vintage pieces. Yet, during these crazy few months, I saw the appeal. It was chic and the design is simplistic enough to go with many outfits. I justified it as an early birthday gift to myself and a reward for completing the academic year. It was still a lot of money to spend on myself -- for just a ring. I guess it's mostly because I don't believe I deserve it. However, I chose to keep it because I don't like backing out of my decisions. I was certain I made the right choice of design for myself when I saw a fellow student wear a dainty silver evil ey...

My Style: Turquoise Ring

Happy Valentine's Day! I recently made a purchase of a vintage sterling silver and turquoise ring on etsy. I had my eye on it for a while because I saw something special in it. I waited until the seller had the Valentine's discount but even then, it was still an expensive purchase. Much to my relief, the seller offered international shipping. Shipping was fairly quick for international. It was less than two weeks, which was great. When I received the ring, it was smaller than what I had imagined but photos tend to make things look larger than what they are. This ring is the first ring in my jewellery collection. I was worried whether the ring would fit me but in the end, it fit perfectly. I don't find DIY ring size matching methods are accurate. The only way you can be certain is to try on rings. Designs can make a ring feel loose or tighter. It certain makes it hard to choose rings online but sometimes you just have to take the risk. If anyone out there intends ...

Tutorial: Ice Cream Scoop Ring

Sorry for a very delayed post. Things didn't go according to plan. Now that I've completed my exams (really didn't go that well...) and I'm feeling a bit down, I thought I'd take my time to type up a post. I wasn't planning to write up a tutorial for this so I don't a picture for every step and had to go back and make another scoop to depict a few steps. Since it has been a while since I've written a tutorial, I thought "Why not?". So for all those sweet-tooths out there, I'm making an ice cream scoop ring. These rings work out for Fairy Kei and Sweet Lolita. Ice Cream Scoop Ring Materials: Air dry clay (It's possible for you to make this with polymer clay but I find air dry clay easier to use for this. I chose to use Hearty clay, a lightweight paper clay) Acrylic paint Measuring spoons or anything with a spherical shape (to be used as a mould) Aluminium foil Toothpick (any pointed and thin object will do. Toothpicks ...
